Making a movie about Renaissance Faires...

    Wednesday, March 14, 2007, 12:47 PM [General]

I am the writer/director of an upcoming feature film called "Renaissance Girl."

It is a comedy / romance about an extremely uptight 18-year-old girl who is forced to work at Faire to pay for college. This being a movie, and Faire being Faire, by the end of the film she is no longer uptight and has embraced the chaos and playfulness of Faire.

It is NOT a mockumentary or documentary.

As of now, we will be shooting in late summer 2007 in Southern California, although that may change.

We are a low budget independent film, and we will absolutely need the support of the Faire community to do justice to the Faire lifestyle. We will need Rennies of all classes and garbs to appear in the film, as well as jousters, military, performers, vendors, etc.

If you are in a guild and you'd like your guild to be in the movie, please contact me! Your Faire character will be immortalized forever on film. (And it is shooting on film, not video).

We will also need volunteers to help build the sets, make costumes, etc.

Please contact me with any questions.

Good luck with your Film. As the mother of a cast member who began working with the Faire at the age of 15 I look forward to seeing your project.

Scarborough Faire in Texas also has beautiful grounds that are available in the summer. Heck the best faires are in Texas - that's where you should be filming!
